Dear Friend,

Despite reaching over 300% of our capacity last month, our team is still doing everything we can to find loving homes for animals every day. In August and September alone, we placed 127 animals into their forever homes!

But the need is far from over. With 920 animals taken in so far this year, our shelter is still over capacity — and we need your help to create space for animals still waiting for help.

How You Can Help:

  • Adopt a Pet: What are you waiting for? Love is just around the corner. Give an animal a forever home today and free up space for the next one in need. Learn more about adopting!
  • Foster: Open your home temporarily and provide care for animals while they await adoption. Learn more about fostering!
  • Share: Spread the word about our adoptable pets to friends, family, co-workers, and community! We share posts on Facebook almost daily showcasing pets for adoption at our facility. All of our pets currently available for adoption are on our website.

Urgent Shelter & Medical Needs

We’re operating on shoestring funding while managing extreme overcrowding. Our ability to rescue and treat animals is greatly dependent on having the right tools and supplies! Right now, we urgently need:

  • A new surgical monitor ($3,000) to perform lifesaving surgeries in-house
  • Supplies & medications to care for animals every day
  • Donations to our Special Medical Fund to afford treatment for animals in need. These funds cover surgeries for dogs like Maverick, who is having huge masses removed to improve his quality of life, as well as essential dental care for cats like Ruthie, who required multiple extractions to eat comfortably again.

Setting the Record Straight

Recent coverage paints a misleading picture of our lifesaving work. We are deeply disappointed by this distorted and misinformed portrayal that ignores the realities of extreme overcrowding and limited funding

Despite attempts to cast us in a negative light, we remain steadfast in our mission to protect and save animals. Our staff, volunteers, fosters, and rescue partners work tirelessly every day to rescue animals and provide care.

Read our full statement here for the complete story and see why our shelter continues to be a vital lifeline for animals in Ashtabula County.

Every helping hand and every donation—no matter the size—has a real impact. We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do it alone. Please, if you’ve ever thought about adopting, fostering, donating, or volunteering—now is the time.
